Written by: Winston Chow The Ku Klux Klan is undeniably a terrorist organization. But what made it especially dangerous is that is functioned as a part of the segregational governments. This allowed is members to kill without being prosecuted and allowed them to eliminate activists by brutal force. Although the Ku Klux Klan is much less actively a threat to society, they will be remembered as a group that terrorized people and destroyed property. 1866 The Ku Klux Klan was founded by James R. Are you in favour of maintaining the constitutional rights of the South? 5. Are you in favour of the enfranchisement and freedom of the white men of the South, and the restoration of the Southern people to all their rights, like ownership, civil, and political? 6. Do you believe in the absolute right of self-preservation of the people against the exercise of subjective and unlicensed power? 1871 Congress passes the Klan act which allows the federal government to punish and persecute members of the Ku Klux Klan. This makes the KKK largely disappears, and is replaced by other white supremacists groups. 1905 Thomas Dixon Jr. makes his second Ku Klux Klan novel into a play. The murders are the first high-profile ones among many killings by the Ku Klux Klan during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. 1963 Members of the Klux bomb a black 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, killing 4 little girls. 1964 The KKK firebomb twenty predominantly black churches with the help of the local police in an attempt to kill numerous civil rights activists in Mississippi.
