Racism is a problem that has been going on since human existence. It may be defined as the hatred of one person by another or the belief that another person is less than human. People are judged because of skin colour, language, place of birth, or any other factors that reveal the basic nature of a person. Due to this judgement, it has influenced wars, slavery, and the creation of our world. During the past 500-1000 years, racism from Westerners against non-Westerners has had the most significant impact on our world’s history than any other type of racism. The most well-known example of racism of this has been slavery, most prominently the enslavement of Africans in the US. This enslavement occurred because of the racist belief that Black Africans were less human than white Europeans. This started when Portuguese explorers found Africa in the 15th and 16th centuries, Africans were thought of as their serious rivals due to their advancements in technology. However, as Africa failed to meet the technological advances as their European counterparts, European countries forcibly removed Africans to work as slaves and labourers for them. Africans quickly became known as a deficient species and were sold and traded across the world. While racism has occurred through human existence, this is an acquired belief. I feel that this problem has been ignored unrightfully for plenty of centuries and now is the time to fix this.
